yesterday while browsing at the mall, i discovered OPI's new collection, matte nail polish. the colors are the same, only not shiny. i decided it was time to retire the red polish i have been sporting for the holiday season. i decided upon my favorite color, you don't know jacque.. luckily for me, my mom shares my adoration for nail polish.
a couple of days ago i heard on the radio that the average person gains 15 lbs during the holidays. then i got to thinking, i can't even remember when the last time i worked out was. this summer i would exercise daily, and i have decided it is about time to get back into the habit i have a lot of work to do, so tomorrow morning at 9:15, i will say hello to my new home: Xcel Fitness
christmas was a success! from dressing up like an elf, to dressing the turkey with my family, it was just what i needed.
note to self: be sure to find home alone 2 before next christmas season

"I've learned that putting a little effort into admiring or appreciating life and the little things we're blessed with can go a long way. Life becomes more full and magical!" -Naomi Reid Davis
i just went on a sev run with morgan, aubree, abby, and katelyn, and it put me in the greatest mood! from all of us sliding down the carport to try to get to the car, or morgan practically driving from a booster seat, it was just so much fun and i wished it would never end so that i wouldn't have to go to work, but it made me realize; Good things don't always last forever, some are so small and over with quickly, so we should enjoy them while they last and let them make our day.
1. I wish Google Maps had an “Avoid Ghetto” routing option. 2. More often than not, when someone is telling me a story all I can think about is that I can’t wait for them to finish so that I can tell my own story that’s not only better, but also more directly involves me. 3. Nothing sucks more than that moment during an argument when you realize you’re wrong. 4. Have you ever been walking down the street and realized that you’re going in the complete opposite direction of where you are supposed to be going? But instead of just turning a 180 and walking back in the direction from which you came, you have to first do something like check your watch or phone or make a grand arm gesture and mutter to yourself to ensure that no one in the surrounding area thinks you’re crazy by randomly switching directions on the sidewalk. 5. That’s enough, Nickelback. 6. I totally take back all those times I didn’t want to nap when I was younger. 7. Is it just me, or are 80% of the people in the "people you may know" feature on facebook people that I really do know, but I deliberatly choose to not be friends with? 8. Do you remember when you were a kid, playing Nintendo and it wouldn’t work? You take the cartridge out, blow in it and that would magically fix the problem. Every kid in America did that, but how did we all know how to fix the problem? There was no internet or message boards or FAQ’s. We just figured it out. Today’s kids are soft. 9. There is a great need for sarcasm font. 10. Sometimes, I’ll watch a movie that I watched when I was younger and suddenly realize I had no idea what the f was going on when I first saw it. 11. I think everyone has a movie that they love so much, it actually becomes stressful to watch it with other people. I’ll end up wasting 90 minutes shiftily glancing around to confirm that everyone’s laughing at the right parts, then making sure I laugh just a little bit harder (and a millisecond earlier) to prove that I’m still the only one who really, really gets it. 12. How the hell are you supposed to fold a fitted sheet? 13. I would rather try to carry 10 plastic grocery bags in each hand than take 2 trips to bring my groceries in. 14. The only time I look forward to a red light is when I’m trying to finish a text. 15. Was learning cursive really necessary? 16. Lol has gone from meaning, “laugh out loud” to “I have nothing else to say”. 17. I have a hard time deciphering the fine line between boredom and hunger. 18. Answering the same letter three times or more in a row on a Scantron test is absolutely petrifying. 19. Have you ever been walking down the street and realized that you're going in the complete opposite direction of where you are supposed to be going? But instead of just turning a 180 and walking back in the direction from which you came, you have to first do something like check your watch or phone or make a grand arm gesture and mutter to yourself to ensure that no one in the surrounding area thinks you're crazy by randomly switching directions on the sidewalk. 20. Whenever someone says “I’m not book smart, but I’m street smart”, all I hear is “I’m not real smart, but I’m imaginary smart”. 21.How many times is it appropriate to say “What?” before you just nod and smile because you still didn’t hear what they said? 22. I love the sense of camaraderie when an entire line of cars teams up to prevent a dick from cutting in at the front. Stay strong, brothers! 23. Every time I have to spell a word over the phone using ‘as in’ examples, I will undoubtedly draw a blank and sound like a complete idiot. Today I had to spell my boss’s last name to an attorney and said “Yes that’s G as in…(10 second lapse)..ummm…Goonies” 24. While driving yesterday I saw a banana peel in the road and instinctively swerved to avoid it…thanks Mario Kart. 25. MapQuest really needs to start their directions on #5. Pretty sure I know how to get out of my neighborhood. 26. Obituaries would be a lot more interesting if they told you how the person died. 27. I find it hard to believe there are actually people who get in the shower first and THEN turn on the water. 28. Shirts get dirty. Underwear gets dirty. Pants? Pants never get dirty, and you can wear them forever. 29. I can’t remember the last time I wasn’t at least kind of tired. 30. Whenever I’m Facebook stalking someone and I find out that their profile is public I feel like a kid on Christmas morning who just got the Red Ryder BB gun that I always wanted. 546 pictures? Don’t mind if I do! 31. Is it just me or do high school girls get sluttier & sluttier every year? 32. Why is it that during an ice-breaker, when the whole room has to go around and say their name and where they are from, I get so incredibly nervous? Like I know my name, I know where I’m from, this shouldn’t be a problem…. 33. You never know when it will strike, but there comes a moment at work when you’ve made up your mind that you just aren’t doing anything productive for the rest of the day. 34. Can we all just agree to ignore whatever comes after DVDs? I don’t want to have to restart my collection. 35. There’s no worse feeling than that millisecond you’re sure you are going to die after leaning your chair back a little too far. 36. I’m always slightly terrified when I exit out of Word and it asks me if I want to save any changes to my ten page research paper that I swear I did not make any changes to. 37. “Do not machine wash or tumble dry” means I will never wash this ever. 38. I hate being the one with the remote in a room full of people watching TV. There’s so much pressure. ‘I love this show, but will they judge me if I keep it on? I bet everyone is wishing we weren’t watching this. It’s only a matter of time before they all get up and leave the room. Will we still be friends after this?’ 39. I hate when I just miss a call by the last ring (Hello? Hello? Dammit!), but when I immediately call back, it rings nine times and goes to voicemail. What’d you do after I didn’t answer? Drop the phone and run away? 40. I hate leaving my house confident and looking good and then not seeing anyone of importance the entire day. What a waste. 41. When I meet a new girl, I’m terrified of mentioning something she hasn’t already told me but that I have learned from some light internet stalking. 42. I like all of the music in my iTunes, except when it’s on shuffle, then I like about one in every fifteen songs in my iTunes. 43. Why is a school zone 20 mph? That seems like the optimal cruising speed for pedophiles… 44. As a driver I hate pedestrians, and as a pedestrian I hate drivers, but no matter what the mode of transportation, I always hate cyclists. 45. Sometimes I’ll look down at my watch 3 consecutive times and still not know what time it is. 46. It should probably be called Unplanned Parenthood. 47. I keep some people’s phone numbers in my phone just so I know not to answer when they call. 48. Even under ideal conditions people have trouble locating their car keys in a pocket, hitting the G-spot, and Pinning the Tail on the Donkey - but I’d bet my ass everyone can find and push the Snooze button from 3 feet away, in about 1.7 seconds, eyes closed, first time every time… 49. I wonder if cops ever get pissed off at the fact that everyone they drive behind obeys the speed limit. 50. I think the freezer deserves a light as well.
Lately I have been thinking a lot of how grateful I am for everything in my life, and since it's Thanksgiving, I thought it would only be appropriate to blog about it. So here is my shortened list of what I am thankful for. 1) the gospel 2) family and friends. I think friendships are just the greatest thing ever! I have such amazing family and friends it's not even funny. 3) Delta Gamma. DG has taught me everything! I know I have grown so much because of it, and these past 2 years of living in the deeg have been some of the best times of my life! 4) living in Utah, it is so beautiful! The mountains take my breath away, and as much as I hate the snow, I love the 4 seasons. I feel so privileged to live where and how I do. 5) the University of Utah, I know I will be sad when I graduate because I love it so much! I couldn't have asked for a better college experience. 6) diet coke, it can turn a bad day good. 7) good quotes and music, they can be so inspiring and mood-changing. 8) my job. As much as I dread going to work sometimes, I love the people at The Store, they are like family! 9) textingand facebook, they make it so easy to keep in touch. 10)old memories. Reminiscing about good or funny things that have happened in the past is hing always the greatest. 11)Everything that makes me happy, which is a lot. Whether it is just a random stranger being nice, seeing a cute old person, or a thoughtful text from a friend, I am thankful for it all.
i am so excited that christmas season is finally here! there is nothing quite like driving around in a warm car, listening to christmas music and looking at lights. :)
i love my life. i am so incredibly blessed. i am surrounded by so many amazing people; my family, my friends, and even people i work with. they help me realize that the most important things in life aren't things- they're people and the relationships we have with them. i wouldn't change the relationships i have with my friends for anything. no matter what we are doing together, i always love the time i spend with them. my friends have the most admirable traits that inspire me to be a better person. i believe that life is about constantly improving yourself, and being happy, so i try to surround myself with people who will help me do this. life is what you make it and no matter what, you can be happy if you want to be. this world is such an amazing place filled with endless opportunities to help ourselves and those around us. i hope i never become so used to life that i forget just how wonderful it is. :)
"who's the leader of the row that's made for you and me? D-E-L-T-A G-A-M-M-A!" we may not have won, but it was a lot of fun and turned out really cute!
I finished this book this morning and I absolutely LOVED it! It is such a great story of how the lives two men born on the same day on opposite sides of the world, collide. It is so interesting and includes events such as the crash of the Titanic, the great depression, and WWII. I would highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a good read! I am going to buy the sequel tonight.
I have always wondered why I often stay up at night much later than I need to, or really should. It just occurred to me that it is the only time of the day I have completely to myself, and not only that, I have no obligations. If I facebook stalk people I hardly know for 2 hours, it doesn't matter because what else am I going to do at 3 am? I think if I were to be an animal, it would be a giraffe considering they need the least amount of sleep out of any mammal. Come to think of it, I have always been fond of giraffes. Maybe it's the height resemblence that has made these freakishly tall animals my favorite attraction at the zoo? Just a thought.
A couple of weeks ago I went to a conference in Indiana for DG. It was a leadership conference for sororities and fraternities all over the country. Besides sometimes feeling like I was in prison (due to the cell-like bedrooms, and limited amount of "recreation time"), I had a lot of fun! We were not allowed to leave the house very often, but when we did it was so nice! I never knew how beautiful Indiana is! In fact, I never even knew WHERE it was, I had to look it up on a map once I was there (I did know the general area though)! It was really interesting to learn about how Greek Life is at different schools, and I made some good friends! I never thought I'd say this but I kind of miss it!
The Alpha Pi Omicron sorority house where the conference was held.
One of the roads on the Indiana University campus, the forests there are so dense!
My "chapter" at the conference, I miss them so much!
The Delta Gamma house at IU...SO BIG! 150 girls live there during the school year. If only ours were like this!
Today I learned that the Great Salt Lake isn't as great of a location for laying out as I thought...thank goodness for tanning salons. I also learned to never rely on mapquest again.
